"I’ve always been fascinated by maps — their mysterious symbols, hidden biases, and layers of meaning. In design school, studying the map of London’s Tube system introduced me to the immense power of information design. The storybooks, treasure maps, and game boards of my youth continue to delight me for their blend of whimsy and structure. Spiritual but not particularly religious, I’ve also long been drawn to visions of heaven. My favorite ideas of the afterlife are those where we reunite with our ancestors and everyone we’ve ever known — and we’re all angels.
In this series of acrylic drawings and paintings, my usual improvisational drawing style intertwines with intentional, plotted paths. Each piece is full of mystery, joy, and storytelling. There are many routes through life. Beware of traps, take shortcuts when you can, and don’t forget to play the long game."
